A Note from the Author

While every woman is royalty in her own right, the Black American Princess is a special derivative. According to The BAP Handbook: The Official Guide to the Black American Princess, a Black American Princess (BAP for short), is an African-American female accustomed to the best and nothing less. Though we are all most deserving of our crowns, they are being misplaced at an alarming rate. For various reasons, too many women are preventing themselves from becoming the Princesses they were truly meant to be, myself included.

About the Blog

So, “what’s a total Betty”, you ask? Check out these definitions:

Betty |bet-ee| n., adj. (pl. –ties): 1. A colloquial expression used to describe a woman who is attractive, fashionable and self-confident. 2. A pampered woman who is accustomed to a cultured lifestyle.

Total Betty |tōtl ˈbet-ee| adj. (pl. –ties): a woman who incorporates all the characteristics of a Betty, effortlessly and flawlessly

Though some Betties stem from prominent lineages, many have evolved over the course of their lifetimes to become the women we admire today. These Betties are cultivated after being exposed to a world of luxury and culture; attending the right events and acquainting with the right people allows Betty to open doors for herself that are held open for some of her peers. Her humble upbringing contributes to her compassionate spirit and down-to-earth character. And because Betty works hard, she plays even harder, rewarding herself with goodies and treats that many only dream about.

The Total Betty blog chronicles my mission to live a life less ordinary. Here, you’ll find lifestyle quips and tips infused with the latest news in beauty, style and entertainment.

The blog is also designed to be a forum for women of all backgrounds who aspire to enjoy a life of style and culture. I do not promise to have all the answers or the power to grant access into this exclusive lifestyle. I’m simply a woman on a mission to incorporate a little glamour in her life and inviting you along for the ride.
